Fix Your Credit Consulting works with North Hollywood residents from an office about two miles from the NoHo Arts District, on Laurel Canyon Blvd in neighboring Valley Village. Come in, or go over your credit report with a consultant by phone.
From the North Hollywood Metro station at Lankershim and Chandler, the office is a little over two miles by road. The usual route is west on Magnolia Blvd, then south on Laurel Canyon Blvd for a bit more than half a mile, past Riverside Drive. The address is 4741 Laurel Canyon Blvd, Ste 205, Valley Village, CA 91607.
North Hollywood covers a lot of ground across the 91601, 91605 and 91606 ZIP codes. If you are coming from the northern end, the phone consultation may be the easier option.
Nothing useful can be said about your credit without the report in front of us, so that is where the free consultation begins. You provide a current report from any credit monitoring service. Looking at your own report is a soft inquiry and does not lower your score. A consultant then reviews your scores and reports from the three bureaus with you and explains the scope of work and the customized fee if you want our help.
Not every low score is caused by mistakes. Some people have only one or two accounts, or a short credit history. That is called a thin file, and there is nothing in it to dispute. Credit repair will not help there. What helps is building history: accounts that report to the bureaus, paid on time, with low balances.
Other people do have real errors pulling their scores down. The review tells you which situation you are in, and what is a good credit score gives you the ranges to compare against.
With collection accounts, the details matter: who owns the debt now, the balance, the date the account first went delinquent and whether the same debt shows up more than once. If any of that is reported wrong, or the collector cannot verify it, it can be disputed. Accurate collections can stay on a report for years, and paying one does not automatically remove it. See how collections affect your credit and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's debt collection resources for your rights when a collector contacts you.
You have the right to dispute inaccurate information yourself, for free, with each bureau. Pull your reports at AnnualCreditReport.com, then follow the Federal Trade Commission's guide to disputing errors on your credit reports or the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's dispute instructions. If you would rather have someone organize the work and keep track of the replies, that is what a consultant is for.
From the NoHo Arts District, take Magnolia Blvd west to Laurel Canyon Blvd and turn south. The office is at 4741 Laurel Canyon Blvd, Ste 205, just past Riverside Drive, a little over two miles from the North Hollywood Metro station.
It depends on whether it is accurate. A collection that is reported incorrectly, or that the collector cannot verify, can be disputed. An accurate collection generally stays on your report for as long as the law allows, even after it is paid.
